Angolan War "Firefly" Rifle Grenade

Price: $49.95
Currently Available
Item Number: MISC607

Necessity of getting arms to UNITA /FNLA during the 1970-80s to stop the progressive MPLA & Cuban movement was important. When top line weapons were not available to arm the “Western” leaning factions, WW2 Enfield and M1 Garand rifles were supplemented in the mix. Surplus rifle grenades were difficult to come by so an “Agency” involved, found surplus U.S. M11 Warheads and added  rocket fins from Energa grenades made in Liechtenstein. This versatile rifle grenade would work with both the U.S. Garand Rifle with launcher and the Enfield rifles fitted with FN model Grenade launchers. Many of the original grenades had “Oniti” printed on the warhead which in Umbundu, meant “Firefly”. These original grenades are inert and sold for display.  Very Limited quantity available.

I originally thought this would fit my Yugoslavian M59/66 SKS rifle, but, no such luck. I guess I'll have to get a Garand. In the product description I was a little dismayed that the MPLA (Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola) was called "progressive". The word my friend is "COMMUNIST".
