First full on AR assembly
Michael Narog (South Prairie, WA) 2/21/2014 5:03 PM
This was my first complete assembly of an AR. I bought the video which had some very helpful tips. I had already acquired a lot of the assembly tools prior to this as I had been tinkering with some of my other rifles for some time. Everything went together well but I would recommend purchasing some roll pin punches and roll pin starter punches. Some of these are quite small and fit in tight areas. I haven't shot it yet but have not doubt it will be a nice little rifle. All in all, a great experience - especially for the price.

Bought it on friday, shot it on monday!

First off I gotta say SARCO's customer service in their store was top notch. This was my first experience with them and building an AR from parts and both couldn't have been better. 4 different guys there gave me advice and helped me select this build kit and the parts and tools to finish it. They where very friendly and definetly know their stuff. The kit was further assembled than is shown in the pic, like the BCG and the FA, which was a little bit of a bummer because I wanted the full build experience but definetly not a con. I spent 3hrs sunday and 15mins monday slapping this thing together with my old man and we test fired it tonight. I am very proud of this rifle, there is nothing like the satisfaction of building your own. Quality seems good, I only have experience with colts which this obviously isn't but I suspect if its maintained it will shoot everytime I pull the trigger and put bullets where I want them.

Doubt you'll ever find a better deal on a AR parts kit.

Good quality parts. Seems to be complete and packed well. I was pleasantly surprised at the nice carry handle. Considering the really low kit price, I was expecting one of the light-weight cheapo handles that others are selling. I'm looking forward to shooting this one. Thanks Sarco.

First time builder notes
Steven Wisenburg (Lawrenceville, GA) 7/17/2013 11:28 PM
This was the first time I tried my hand at building an AR from scratch. I ordered two kits when they came back into stock. When they arrived, everything was packed well, but both kits of small parts were combined into one bag. For my first build, there certainly are a lot of small parts, so having both kits in one bag caused some confusion. I spend an hour dividing up the parts that were not in the yellow envelope. (I figured I would deal with the envelope later) Once the parts were divided, I spent about 2 hours on the upper, carefully reviewing schematics and reviewing video's from the Internet. I was able to assemble the upper without any special tools (other than a barrel wrench). I would highly recommend a bench vice with a block for holding the receiver. I scrimped by using a wood vice, and it wasn't the best option. So far I know I am missing two parts (same part from each kit). Its the rivet for the front sling, so its not an important part. The missing part and the fact that both kits were combined are the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. When I get to the lower receiver, I hope I am not missing any other parts. :-) This is a great kit, and I will consider buying more in the future.
