Original grenade tension bands placed under the flash hider added stability to the Rifle Grenade before firing. Left over from the 1960s. A cool accessory rarely found today.

So this is another part that's going on my 604ish build that I'm going to finally get done soon hopefully. This is absolutely perfect for anyone trying to get the look of an early ar15/m16 than I'd definitely recommend this item.
