Made for the venerable M1 Carbine, Post WWII, M4 bayonet made in the USA and a military contract M8A1 scabbard. Unissued Condition. Black plastic grips, 6.75 inches blade and an overall length of 11.75 inches. The black plastic grips, replaced the leather rings grips in 1954, the underneath of the cross guard is stamped ( US M4 ). The olive drab scabbard with M8A1 stamped on the flat steel part, had replaced the M8 scabbard of early version, making this new scabbard so desirable that it was later used in the M5- M6 and M7 bayonets. Too tight

The bayonet is too tight in the scabbard. Had to pull apart with screwdriver. That made scratches on scabbard and by pulling the bayonet in an out scratches the bayonet also.
